Re opening is a crazy idea...

... Unless you have proper testing. The virus is still at large and there is a decline in new casrs BECAUSE of the lockdown. This doesnt prove the lockdown is unnecessary but that it is necessary. If you open up, you need to be able to isolate and control the virus or its Groundhog Day for the black death.

You're hysterical. I don't disagree with anything you said, but as this pandemic has progressed, it's become apparent it is nowhere near as lethal as first thought.

The whole point of the lockdown was too prevent the medical community from being overwhelmed by Covid 19 victims needing oxygen and ventilators. I live in a large city on the east coast of the US, and while the virus is currently raging, its abundantly clear the medical community has a handle on this, and are dealing with Covid 19 patients as effectively as they can.

It's going to be a phased approach to re-opening. We will reopen slowly. People will continue to follow safety protocols such as mask wearing, social distancing, and hand washing.

People will still get it. Some of those people will die, unfortunately.

But we can't stay locked down forever. You, as usual, are being impacted by propaganda telling you to be scared, and that your government is botching the response to this. I'd like to suggest you take a step back and look at the larger picture. We can't just stay closed forever, and this was always a temporary measure.
@SumKindaMunster Funny. You right wingers keep claiming it is overblown and not so bad but just expect people to take you at your word despite the fact all evidence suggests otherwise.
@SumKindaMunster Also you don't seem to understand cause and effect. The reason it isn't worse is exactly because these measures are in place.

@SumKindaMunster The factor you left out of your scenario is that in a place the size of the US with is going to be rolling across the nation, so there will always be a peak demand someplace. If you re open while there is a viable infected population you are going to get second wave breakouts while the first wave is elsewhere saoking up the resources and delaying a real return of the economy. This thing doesnt need a baind aid. It needs an amputation to take it out of the equation and thats a long thorogh shut down OR. a total reopen that allows the worst to happen. Even then it seems the immunity the herd is supposed to get may not last. Some people are getting it a second time.

@whowasthatmaskedman You missed this:
It's a process. It's not an all or nothing proposition. I live in Pennsylvania. We are NOT just re-opening. It will be a phased approach, apparently with 3 phases that will be based on infection rates, etc.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow If you weren't an indoctrinated fool whose been programmed to angrily hate those who don't share your political opinion, you would see I clearly understand cause and effect, and advocated for a phased, careful approach to re-opening.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster More sensible, although without widespread testing in the community you wont know its there until its too late. And this isnt the approach the protestors are likely to follow
@whowasthatmaskedman That and the testing issue will remain a problem because the Trump clowns realize that the more cases are confirmed the worse the optics.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Ya know, if there is one thing I would like to impress upon our "allies", as in Canada, the UK, Australia, Western Europe etc...

Stop assuming you know what is going on in America based on the news coverage you see. There is an ongoing culture war in the US and the extremes of both sides are highlighted, shamed and denigrated. You see the worst of the worst, and the press looks for examples to highlight their ongoing propaganda campaign of painting Trump and his supporters as brain dead hicks.

I live here, am a Trump supporter, and have friends and family who are Trump supporters. None of them embody any of the stereotypes you love to believe make up the American public.
@SumKindaMunster Oh right poor little Donny it is all about him and the world is conspiring against him. Give me a break. Don't insult people's intelligence.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I never said anything of the sort. You're pathetic. All you have is snark and ad hominem attacks.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SumKindaMunster I accept all that, and while I do joke at Trumps expense I dont mind how he comes across publicly. I just wish he had some kind of clue when it comes to economics, either in theory. or how it is applied in America. Hes burning a lot of bridges you are going to need quite soon.
@SumKindaMunster That was definitely the implication.
@SumKindaMunster People might take you seriously is you stopped gaslighting people on the situation in the US.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow No, angry nitwits like you will never accept another person's opinion if they happen to embody demographics that you've been programmed to hate.

I'm not gaslighting anybody. This is my opinion only.

If you weren't such an angry, indoctrinated schmuck you might be able to acknowledge that my opinion is not yours, accept that we have the right in this country to express our political opinions, and move on without having a childish temper tantrum.
@SumKindaMunster Nice strawman. I don't hate anyone and sorry despite what Trump tells you you are not entitled to your own facts.

And again I have no patience for strawman arguments and gaslighting.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I don't think you understand what a strawman argument is. I clearly acknowledged your accusation of me gaslighting and directly refuted it.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Yeah, because "opinions" are free of strawmen.

Constantly using things like:
You, as usual, are being impacted by propaganda telling you to be scared, and that your government is botching the response to this.

If you weren't an indoctrinated fool whose been programmed to angrily hate those who don't share your political opinion
Isn't gaslighting people at all... because it's just "an opinion".
When he defends his opinions, it has no value at all, like every other opinion.
That's how SumKindaMunster rolls, because he actually has nothing to contribute... what so ever, and he doesn't create strawmen because he just acknowledges that his opinion are as hollow as the rest of his rhetoric.

His opinion and the last two quotes though, are really ironic if you read this:
You're pathetic. All you have is snark and ad hominem attacks.
Because not only does only spew opinions that are hollow, he's also dishonest in them and a piece of shit. 🤷‍♂️
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Kwek00 Thanks duckboy, for acknowledging I was not using a strawman argument here.

Sorry you are a little cranky though. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe if you had someone to talk to....
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SumKindaMunster Did you see what I did there Munster? I adressed what you said. Instead of making just "Ad Hominem Attacks" like this one:

https://similarworlds.com/6030143-I-Think-IM-Confusing-Cause-I-Am-Confused/3294195-I-ordered-a-book-on-monday-that-according-to-the?com_id=39156217&sort=1

You don't have to worry Munster, I have people to talk too. Just like you I talk to random people on the internet in my own way. The diffrence is that I actually adress what is being said and that I defend my position till someone proves it wrong and then I reevaluate my position. That's totally diffrent then randomly making assumptions on someones social life, in the hope to make them feel bad and get a kick out of it. I can be an asshole because I don't agree with people, but when I use ad hominems like: "dishonest piece of shit", then these people have pretty well earned it.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Kwek00 No. You clearly get very agitated and angry when you come across opinions that you don't share. Including myself, I have seen you completely lose your shit and attack others on here who you don't like merely because you disagree. It clearly rankles you that people dare to believe something you have examined, and found lacking. If it were up to you, nobody would share an opinion that you believe is incorrect. You are a disgusting hypocrite, and I am not concerned that you don't like me or what I post here. I consider it an honor that I have impacted you so deeply.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SumKindaMunster that's your opinion again SumKindaMunster, just keep wacking your stick. 😂
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@SumKindaMunster
I consider it an honor that I have impacted you so deeply.
I also love how people spell out their pathetic nature and are proud of it 😂
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Kwek00 I will. Keep pretending you aren't an angry, bitter loser who hates and despises those you disagree with. Keep pretending that you tolerate others opinions. Keep pretending you aren't bothered by people not agreeing with you. Keep pretending you aren't a lonely loser with no friends and no life to speak of other than work and fantasy games.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Kwek00 I love how people who are in denial think nobody can see that. 😂
@SumKindaMunster For once I agree.
