I don’t understand. Why are the democrats blocking the $250B for small businesses? I thought they were all for small business?

But did you read the article you shared? Did you see how McConnell tried to pass it? Or that the Democrats are looking for more and making sure that the farmers and small businesses not working with specific banks were still included?
McConnell did this so he could sell the idea that the Democrats aren't fighting for small businesses when the exact opposite is true. He knows his audience. Those who don't look any deeper than what they're fed so he can sell the idea that the Democrats are their enemies.
Democrats don’t want to sign off on the $250 billion increase without also adding hundreds of billions for hospitals, cities, states and food stamp recipients. They also want to ensure that half of the increase goes through community banks, emergency grants and other programs aimed at underserved communities.
Trump has said he supports most of these items. This is essentially a McConnell ploy to blame Democrats for not passing his legislation.

@windinhishair You hit it on the money. McConnell and the Republicans are not for this, but are trying to blame the democrats.
tring2222 · 26-30, F
maybe the same reason the republican senators blocked two stimulus checks or an expansion of unemployment.
TakingBackMidgaard · 31-35, M
See that makes sense for the republicans to do as that’s usually how they are but it’s like the democrats are cutting their own fingers?

@tring2222
tring2222 · 26-30, F
@TakingBackMidgaard the Democrats blocked it because they want a more extensive package and changes.

From a 'logical' (yeah i know.....Americans rarely do 'logic'!) point of view,
It might actually make more economic sense to let these businesses fail. Crap as that probably sounds.

There are no guarantees as to when or even IF this virus problem will end. And even if it DOES there's no guarantee we won't all be back here this time NEXT year looking at yet ANOTHER economic package, desperately needed, that will probably have tripled the deficit by then.

what really amazes me is all the talks from the past and yet, they change their Neritives and many supporters forget what they stand for and have no clue what these politicians are talking about anymore.

for any issues they point out, Trump already fixed it. what else can they point?
