I can't tell you how often I hear that which is why I am quite sensitive to it.I had my first full time job at 8 years old and only stopped working at 58 when I became disabled. You cannot believe how many people think I am sucking money out of their pockets. Sorry.

@Fernie: I hear ya Fernie! I was working in tobacco fields before the sun came up in the south when I was just ten years old, did it for years. I also baby sat for extra money to help buy my school clothes. I'm on disability too now. I just ignore people's rude comments about being on disability. 💃☮

It's one of the reasons we are getting 3/10 of one percent cost of living raise...many buy that distorted lie and use it against the vast majority of us SS recipients who earned every dime we get which is nothing really. We barely survive on it. That's just me though.

@Fernie: So true Fernie, I worked when I could and now I can't. I have a medical disability that is REAL and can be very painful at times. I have to go to the doctors and get shots in the base of my skull and neck to control spasms that can cause my head to pull to one side. No, I don't see how anyone could fake a disability. Most of us are on SS for a valid reason, and we sure aren't going on any vacations with what we get huh Fernie?!!

We worked from that moment on until we couldn't anymore...if not for our disabilities...I'm sure we'd be bagging groceries ten years after we were dead to pay the bills. Kids now have no clue what that level of work is all about. Lots of adults either
