@MarineBob

If Trump does win a second term, will his administation be called the Astros and will he rip up the White House lawn and put down Astroturf (or TrumpTurf)?

(If you don't know baseball history, you'll miss the reference)

You missed the Astros reference, too, didn't you?

Yeah right. The Phillies beat the Astro yo get into the World Series in 1980 which they won back when the Astros were in the NL. Are you in favor of the DH? Expanding it? Eliminating it? @beckyromero

No. You didn't get it.

You see back when the Houston baseball club was called the Colt .45's (@MarineBob's comparing Trump to that famous gun), the team decided to build a dome stadium.

They put in clear panels on the ceilings so the grass would continue to grow. But fielders kept losing pop flies in the glare.

So they painted the ceiling tiles.

But then the grass died.

So they came up with "AstroTurf." And played in the AstroDome. Hence the name change.

The club itself then kept drafting or trading for sluggers: Jimmy Wynn, Joe Morgan, Lee May, Bob Watson, Glenn Davis, etc.

All of whom had diminished power numbers because they were playing in a stadium where fly balls went to die.

They also made idiotic traded throughout their history: Rusty Staub, Joe Morgan, Mike Cuellar, Curt Schilling, Kenny Lofton...

They hired people like Harry Walker who alienated black ballplayers, leading to trades which returned far less in value.

In other words, the Astros were a great example of INCOMPETENCE. Hence the perfect baseball comparison to the Trump administration.

(As for the DH, hell no!)

You’re right about the DH. I had no interest in writing the book so I let you did it. Turk Farrell was one of the best of the Colt 45’s. Having the Astros switch leagues was sacrilege. Jose Cruz should be in the HOF. @beckyromero

Having the Astros switch leagues was sacrilege.

Having the Brewers do too was almost as bad.

Poor Cruz. If he played about anywhere else he probably would be in the Hall.
