I Like Politics

It is amazing how so many people still talk about the "communist' China. Yes,the ruling party is still called Communist Party, but only because it is a brand that works well. Chinese are pragmatical, not ideological

But China has nothing to do with communism. China is the epitomme of capitalism, but of an improved capitalism compared to the western one. Capitalism controlled by the state serving the national interest instead of capitalism to serve individual interests. China has understood that capitalism is a good means, but awful in itself. That's why the future looks Chinese (apart from the fact that they do not care about multiculturalism, LGBT rights and the like).

Not sure that all of this is true. The Chinese were very ideological under Mao, especially during the Great Cultural Revolution. Normally, true, they are a rather pragmatic people.

Yes, the Chinese leadership wants to use capitalism in service of the state. And certainly do not approve of LGBT rights, diversity and so on.

@Mugin16 They were very ideological then because you know what happened to them if they were not.

@Cierzo Yes, sure. But some were true believers. Especially the Red Guards.
