As we get nearer to 12K deaths from the Trump Pandemic in the USA, are Trumpansies prepared to move those goalposts?

I don't blame Trump for our poor preparedness. That was years and multiple administrations in the making. Not just political leaders either, but all of us as a nation.

But I do blame him for his slow reaction to the crisis, calling it a "hoax", sending mixed messages and the predicable incompetence of his so-called leadership that I expected from him when I watched the election results in 2016.

@beckyromero Dismantling the pandemic response team because it was something created by his predecessor and a sure way to own some more libs shifts most of the weight directly to Trumpo, in my opinion.

The rest of the shift comes from firing the fedgov employee stationed in China whose responsibility it was to monitor outbreaks and report on possible pandemic situations.

That has nothing to do with our limited supply of PPEs, such as gowns and masks. Or ventilators. Or lack of ICU beds. Etc etc etc. That's a national failure.

What you're describing is more akin to what I wrote about the incompetence of his leadership.

Indeed. And I don't want to get into a "obstructionist Republicans are the root cause of all shortages because tax-and-spend liberals are always taxing and spending" tit-for-tat.

But for someone to crow about how awesome they are, how they've only ever surrounded themselves with the best people, and who had a transfer of power training exercise that included pandemic response preparedness, I'm looking for a lot out of them when an actual pandemic happens.

The complete lack of leadership and criminally negligent response doesn't obviate the prior issues, true, but the performance so far gives me a lot of doubt that even if we had everything we needed at the start, we'd not still be in the exact position we are right now.

But, at least he's got "his" stockpile either way, so he's winning I guess 🤷‍♀️
