That's not liberal. That's socialist. Liberal is today's conservative where you make your own way and better yourself. Socialism simply doesn't work. The small 'benefits' are always overwhelmed by the problems it creates. I have lived under both 'liberal' and 'socialist' and every time a socialist government was elected the overall poverty increased. The problem is that under socialism you are robbing Peter to pay Paul and the minute you start doing that Peter stops working. As Margret Thatcher observed socialism works so long as you have other people's money. Unfortunately all too soon you run out of other peoples' money.

Actually most socialist countries that have failed have nationalize all major industries, I just believe the more you make the more taxes you should pay to help people who are trying to climb up the ladder to have a decent life. And people can climb this ladder through education.

Have you ever lived under socialist rule? It is an illusion. It does not work. I have lived under several of socialist regimes and the result is always the same. The rich leave and the poor get poorer. I have seen two jurisdictions side by side and you could tell when you crossed the invisible line. On one side was nice modern housing and bustling business/shopping districts and on the other run down housing and empty stores.

@PsychoMantis: During the time of the greatest economic growth in the U.S., the very wealthy were paying at around a 90% personal tax rate. Today, most pay at an equal or lesser percentage than "regular" Americans with many major corporations often paying nothing and, unbelievably, sometimes being subsidized.

@hippyjoe1955: capitalism is also a illusion just like socialism. plus I don't believe in the government taking over major industries, I just believe in Free healthcare and free college.

Life is an illusion. Move on. Do you want to live in poverty for the rest of you life? Vote socialist. Want to live in relative wealth? Vote liberal.

@hippyjoe1955: you have a lot of blind spots.
