It’s pathetic really. If there’s something we understand technically, it’s the epidemiology of a respiratory flu. We knew what to do. The current American political leadership downplayed it. Responded late. Regionally responses are slow and ineffective. Politicians in limited cases are still deniers. I think in part because any career public servant is presumed a political shill, even if they are epidemiologists in public health. In part because they were responding to optics, markets, and political liabilities.
