We need to think about Africa.

There is an understanding that the virus doesnt like hot weather but (given the number cases in southern Italy and Florida) this is a dangerous assumption.

Africa has much less capacity to deal with this than the west and they are getting cases. While the developed world itself is struggling, we at least have facilities or the capacity to make them. African countries can't borrow money and dont have the industrial capacity so others will need to help them.

This is from a humanitariam point of view and also self interest. If we deal with our owm crisis, we can still get the virus back from others as coronavirus does not care about borders.

You do know that Southern Europe has winters, right? I'm currently in Barcelona, which is basically on the same latitude as Rome. We've had temperatures of 14 celsius (and below) for weeks.

Senegal has had 119 cases, Ghana has had 136 and Ivory Coast, a mere 96. I didn't bother looking up the rest of the African countries.

The Guardian used to be a newspaper of substance. Now it churns out this??????

The latest research ive read on the bbc says that the virus survives and spreads in humans at any temperature though dies quicker in surfaces in hot weather. Its been mostly spread by humans though.

I do think that Larry Elliot makes good points, even if you dont think so. I wish you well.
