They will, if we don't take this seriously. If we start abiding by social distancing rules, then the rate of growth will slow down.
In the short term, there will be more cases, because a lot of people have very mild, to no symptoms, and there aren't enough testing kits. I believe once testing is widely available, then this can be brought under control.
Public figures should behave like the rest of us, as well. Not sure what Prince Charles, was thinking, maintaining what seemed like a full social schedule.
