UK Chancellor's budget breakdown

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51820978

OK so it looks like this:

The budget was called A budget for the Coronavirus

1. The government estimates that the current Coronavirus epidemic is likely to affect 20% of the UK population.
2. This is likely to hit the UK's performance. Causing a "Temporary significant impact"
3. The Bank of England has reduced lending rates to business to .25%
4. Statutory sick pay will be given from day 1 on confirmation of having the infection as opposed to the normal day 5.
This is relevant to anyone who is asked to 'Self-Isolate'.
5. Businesses of 250 employees or less will be able to claim the costs of Statutory Sick Pay directly from the government for 14 days.
6. Those operating in the Retail and Hospitality industries are afforded the same.

7. Business rates for local businesses abolished for 1 year.
8. £6 Billion to go directly to the N.H.S The idea being to boost numbers of Doctors; Nurses and Hospitals.
9. 6.2% increase 'for the low paid'. Although he didn't make it clear if that were for an increase in the National Minimum Wage or, as sounded more likely, the 'Living wage' (meaning something employers should 'aspire' to rather than legally have to pay)
10. A cut in the National Insurance contribution. You start paying on a threshold of £9500 as opposed to the previous £8632.
11. Income tax to be re-visited once the Spending Review is done later in the year. But no change for now.

12.DUTIES
No increases in Cider; Wine; Beer; Spirits.
No increases in Fuel duty.
No increases in cigarettes/Tobacco

13. Then all the 'Fantasy numbers' came out:

£1.5 Billion on maintainance of Further Education colleges over the next five years.
£12 Billion on 'Social housing' over the next ten years.
£650 Million to help 'eradicate rough-sleepers' over the course of the next Parliament.
£510 Million investment in 'Shared mobile phone coverage'
£130 Million in new small business loans.
£500 Million for 'rapid-charging points for electric vehicles'.
£300 Million in Flood defences.
£27 Billion on road repairs and new roads.
New railway lines and improvement to existing stations (to be 'priced' at the next spending review)
That means 80% of us won’t be affected!

@TheSirfurryanimalWales Yes basically all he's done is give the NHS the money back it took in 2010.

No mention of income tax nor pensions nor benefits which are the three most costly maintainance factors in any economy.

The rest of it is just window dressing.
I mean, the last Chancellors statement about wanting to 'Outlaw petrol and diesel inside 15 years' was not only 'ambitious' but also highly unlikely.
Unless they've figured out how to make electric vehicles at a cost of about 5K so that everyone could actually afford to buy one !

And yet today he was spouting about the investment in charging points for vehicles nobody owns yet !
