Here We Go Again with Trump

He’s lost my support. I’ve gritted my teeth at some of his policies, and still decided to support him because there is no other option, but he’s gone too far with denaturalization of American Citizens. People who came here legally, have been tax paying citizens, some for many decades, or a lifetime, but now they can be stripped of their citizenship and deported for falling foul of the law, in some way. This is not right, and I can no longer support him.

I know I’ll get the Right wing haters, who will say, “you couldn’t be a real Trump supporter,” and the Leftists who will say, “I told you so,” but that doesn’t matter. To the conservatives (and I am one), I say that I’m not a sheep, and when I see authoritarianism like this, I’m done. To the Leftists, I would never support one of your crowd because of their authoritarian policies. It seems Left or Right, authoritarianism is the name of the game, no matter who is in power.

It's not a new policy, although there are fears that it may be used more and more broadly.

And it's not just a knock on the door and deportation back to wherever. It's a trial process. Under President Obama, for example, an accused war criminal was deported because, in addition to transgressions elsewhere, she lied in her application for citizenship.

I get if someone lied, but I’ve seen this slippery slope before. Some years ago, ICE, or whatever they called themselves back then rounded up legal immigrants who had 20-year-old dwi convictions. These people had paid their debt to society. They didn’t kill or injure anyone, and never been in trouble again. They married had families, bought homes, paid taxes, and their children were American citizens, but the government acting against the constitution retroactively rounded up hundreds and deported them. At the time of their crime, it was not a deportable offense, but 20-years later it, apparently, was. What the government did was wrong and inhumane to separate families for life over a misdemeanor. These people had green cards, but I can see where this is heading, and I don’t like it one bit. @Mamapolo2016
@Carissimi I understand.

@Carissimi He's talking about felony's that immigrants hid prior to becoming citizens.

Well, those green card holders never committed felonies, and were not subject to deportation at the time of their convictions. However, 20-years later they retroactively deported them. Thats against an amendment. I can’t recall which one. So do you think I trust the government with this? No, I don’t. I see how it starts with one thing then expands to minor things, affecting ordinary people. @jeancolby
