Do you think that having a space force as a military branch is an exaggeration or just a preventive measure?

We are no where there yet to need such a service.
Having said that. Those that believe that it's not practical, all I can say is who is to say what it will be like in a hundred years?
That is the time frame though. Minimum of 100 years before such a service would be needed.
