@HannibalAteMeOut There's nothing the Space Force does, that's not done today, by other branches.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Northwest Up until 1947 that was true for USAF as well.

@QuixoticSoul Yes, but at the time, we had warplanes. We don't have military-grade star cruisers yet.

@Northwest For the immediate future, space force is going to be concerned with military satellites and anti-satellite operations - and everyone expects space operations to involve and become more central in any warfare with an advanced opponent.

@QuixoticSoul We're complaining that Russia is shadowing one of our spy satellite. The Russians called out the "spy" part as hypocrisy. The Chinese already tested laser, satellite killer weapons. Space, the final frontier.

@Northwest Complaining is about all we can do when it comes to this kind of stuff - Russians appear to be wargaming.

@Pherick I don't know if people remember SDI, from the early 80s. Reagan did not believe in MAD. My school (and some other schools) got a bunch of money, at the time. Years later, it was determined that a terrestrial based laser system, will not work, so it was replaced with a space-to-space, permanently orbiting missile defense shield. I'm sure this is one of the things, if not the only thing, that the Space Force will do, when it gets transferred from the Air Force, where it currently resides.
