@Dontbother at least half your point have absolutely nothing to do with a country being more advanced than another one. The tax only appears lower, and your income has to take into account the "rent income" from your home, yes you have to add a fictitious income for ren if you own your home, fuel in Switzerland is $6 a gallon and only $3 a gallon in the USA I'm not sure that the gallons are the same size.
the Swiss wages are higher but so are the prices, but prices and tax are not indicators of how advanced a country is.

@Northwest Just shows you how insane the imperial system is. His confusion might be coming from the variation in the size of a pint between different countries.
