@Johnblackthorn religion is used a lot in U.S. politics, more money is spent on wars and prisons rather than on important issues like education and health, etc.

@SW-User religion is used politically in most countries, defending a country as meddlesome as the USA is expensive, but mot a sign of being retarded, the US education system is one of the best in the world, the us health care is fairly good but expensive.
