Don't impeach for an impeachable offense?
Just because actions meet a standard of impeachment does not mean it is in the best interest of the country to remove a President from office.

- Senator Marco Rubio
Makes perfect sense to me.

What exactly are the standards for impeachment?
@goliathtree We're not clear on that anymore.
goliathtree · 56-60, M
@MistyCee there are no standards...just votes.
JT123 · M
@MistyCee Clearly this wasn't an impeachable offense seeing as Obama/Biden did the same thing and nothing happened to them!
@JT123 That makes no sense.
JT123 · M
@MistyCee Well they impeached him for doing exactly what Obama ordered Biden to do in Ukraine. Makes perfect sense to me
@JT123 So if one guy steals and doesnt get caught, it's ok for everyone to steal?

I know you're not alone and that a lot of people think that way, but I don't follow the logic or like where it leads.
JT123 · M
@MistyCee The only difference is, Trump did nothing wrong and democrats showed nothing to prove otherwise. Biden admitted he withheld a billion in aide and laughed about it. If it wasn't a crime then, It's not a crime now! The fact is the dems have no chance of beating Trump and they have nothing left but scam after scam to try to make him look bad and they're failing. Let them enjoy this year because next January, they won't be able to change a light bulb without consulting Republicans first
@JT123 I don't know many Democrats who are likely to enjoy this year, and don't think many Americans should be enjoying this divergent view of reality.

@goliathtree what are the standards for moral behavior?

What are the standards for truth telling?

This whole process has been hammered from the beginning. It’s not like Trump supports any kind of Republican standards. But, I’d pay someone 100 bucks if they could accurately describe what the Republicans stand for today.

And the Democrats stand for anything that isn’t Republican.

But, Marco isn’t alone. Many Republican senators have effectively said that while they don’t support the President’s specific choices, it’s doesn’t really matter because the only thing the Democrats are trying to do is execute a land grab.

What are the standards for being honorable? What are the standards for following an oath?

@JT123
Biden admitted he withheld a billion in aide and laughed about it.
Literally incorrect.

Laughably incorrect.

If you’re going to be an ignorant follower, at least own up to it.

If you feel so strongly about the actions of the President, you shouldn’t have to resort to mid statements of fact. And if you don’t know that what you said is inaccurate.... well that’s just sad.

@JoeyFoxx What crime was committed?
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@goliathtree high crimes and misdemeanors do not require a federal statute to be violated. This question isn’t valid on its face.

With that said, a quid pro quo is effectively the same as a bribe. He released the funds only after having been caught.

Honestly though, the Democrats butchered this thing. They kept waiting for a smoking gun not realizing that Trump lives in the grey. There was never going to be a single thing that was blatantly obvious.

But, evidently, the fact that he parrots Russian talking points and lies about 12,000 factories being opened is reason enough for us to recognize that he’s a guy of high moral character.

Republicans used to care about that.
Reagan is rolling over in his grave.
goliathtree · 56-60, M
@JoeyFoxx It is a valid question on its face because impeachment has always been a political process that has never required that a crime be committed. It only requires votes. That is why it should be handled with extreme care and should be bipartisan and very serious. Are you thinking that it has been handled in such a fashion? I certainly don't see it.

And you should fact check the 12,000 factories. Since 2017 there have been approximately 12,000 manufacturing facilities opened...albeit many are small business with under 20 employees.

I am not sure about you, but I have worked my ass off since I was a young kid and until just recently, I figured I would likely die working. I might still die working, but with the performance of my investments I actually see a good possibility now.

The courts look better to me too. I actually voted for Reagan. I supported Cruz in the primaries and held my nose and voted for Trump in the General because the alternative was totally contrary to my beliefs. If things continue on the path they are currently on, I will do the same this November.

So, the Democrats are the only guilty party for making this a one sided affair?

Numerous Republicans who have called this clown crazy and irresponsible are now defending him. Though even that spineless fuck from South Carolina continues to remind everyone that it was Russia and NOT Ukraine that meddled in the election.

But, why the fuck should I care? I’m in the 5%. Trump’s policies are benefitting me personally. So I guess I should shut the fuck up.

@JoeyFoxx you seem tense.

@goliathtree just disappointed

It’s how I roll
