Don't impeach for an impeachable offense?
Just because actions meet a standard of impeachment does not mean it is in the best interest of the country to remove a President from office.

- Senator Marco Rubio
Makes perfect sense to me.

Not all impeachable offenses warrant removal from office. Clinton's did not, for example. But the process of removal in the Senate is there to remove the president when his actions indicate that he is a danger to the institution of the presidency and to the nation. In Trump's case, this is clearly true. If ever there was a president that warranted removal by the Senate, it is this one. Trump will see and promote this as total vindication, and will blatantly abuse the power of the office even more, and in more egregrious ways. Unfortunately, this story isn't ending. It is only beginning.
