Environmental protections for waterways in the US are being removed by the Trump Administration allowing farmers to dump directly in the rivers.

What a wonderful world this is. 🙄

Trump has no environmental ethic whatsoever. He believes the only use of property is to exploit it by mining, logging, extraction, or any other destructive use. He'd gladly sacrifice every wild area in the nation and destroy wilderness for good. And if people die in the future, he won't be president, so he won't have to suffer the consequences. He won't be satisfied until the Cuyahoga River is burning again in Ohio. Making America Burn Again. MABA.

@windinhishair Nice spew. Care to try again? I love to watch you pop an artery like that.

That burning river was featured in a visit Cleveland video if I recall. At least Cleveland ain’t Detroit.@windinhishair

@AthrillatheHunt The Cuyahoga burned regularly in the 1950s and 1960s. After several bridges burned from beneath, ignited by flammable chemicals floating on the water surface, it helped push the environmental movement that resulted in Nixon forming EPA in 1970. Back then, even Republicans recognized that environmental protection was desirable.

@AthrillatheHunt You're welcome. People forget history and how we got to where we are today. Only by understanding what came before can we make significant progress moving forward. Regressing with MAGA slogans sends the nation back half a century.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I think that was the whole intention@windinhishair
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt Yes, but do we really want our rivers to be open sewers again? To have thousands of people get sick in pollution events like we had in Donora, PA in 1948? Apparently Trump and his cronies think that was a glorious time in America.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt The fact is Trump did no such thing as alleged. He simply rolled back some duplication of rules. If the states are already covering the situation why should the feds be looking at the same situation. I talked to a guy in Canada who wanted to do some minor work near a trout stream high in the mountains. He spent 5 years trying to convince both levels of government that he could mine without disturbing the stream. The province would bring up an objection which the miner would address. Before the sun set the federal government would ask the same question and not accept the studies the province had already demanded. It cost him millions and in the end he mined the gold buried deep in the ground. He laughs at the measures he has to take including building an artificial fish pond where he has to sample the fish every year. The government was demanding he destroy the natural waterway. He had no intention of touching the stream and had the ways and means to prevent anything from getting into the water. Most often government is the problem not the solution.

This is getting confusing@hippyjoe1955

Well stated, @windinhishair
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt What is confusing? If one level of government is in charge of the rivers, streams, lakes and ponds in a given area does another level of government need to duplicate the rules and regulations?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 The fact is that Trump has reversed or eliminated 95 regulations covering environmental issues. It is complete bullshit to say he is rolling back duplication. That is laughably bogus.

Nice story about your friend. Of course, a single unattributed and likely bogus story about one person negates eliminating protections for chemicals known to cause cancer in farm workers and their children, as Trump has done.

I thought we settled the fed vs state laws stuff ages ago. Then some states legalized weed.@hippyjoe1955
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@windinhishair Nope just duplication. Don't believe me do some research on your own. Beyond CNN of course.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 I don't believe you, and since I work on environmental issues for a living, I don't have to do any additional research. You're completely wrong and proud of it. Why don't you do your own research? It might help with your utter lack of education.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@windinhishair I don't care if you believe me or not. If you want the truth you simply have to do some serious research instead of relying on the silly emotionalism of leftist publications. Facts are facts and in this instance the facts are on my side.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 Not even close. Nice try, and thanks for playing.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@windinhishair The only one that missed was you. Too Funny!!! Clueless as always is one of the facts of being a liberal.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 Ignorant to the end, aren't you? And so proud of the fact as well. Trump isn't even your leader, but he must be so proud of you and other people who know nothing and pretend they do.
