@fairefoutre She is "quite entitled". 🙄
@puck61 You are QUITE JUDGMENTAL.
She has a message.

What's YOURS?
Peapod · 61-69, F
@Whiterosesociety, if she had a MAGA hat on and was scolding the "liberal agenda" as they like to call it, they would be lauding her as a brave patriot!
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Peapod those folks down under claim arsonist is to blame for the fires greta says climate change
@MarineBob wanna know what fake news sounds like?

But after that please remember that fire-setters and fire-causes are sometimes one and the same.
Peapod · 61-69, F
@MarineBob, please stay focused on the issue of a young girl up there speaking. I have already expressed my concern with that. I don't like seeing kids on either side being put up there for adults to tear apart.

You do understand she also has autism. My son has it. Parts of their brain sounds very adult, but they are not.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Peapod well maybe if she doesn't like it she should let it go and focus on her health
Peapod · 61-69, F
@MarineBob, she is not an independent adult yet. Teens in general have little understanding of that. You also conveniently forget about her autism, but I get it. You need to fit her into a narrative that makes you comfortable with your negative feelings of her.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@Peapod I think most of the folks out there understand that teens have little understanding of anything, it is having one put on the news every day to preach that is annoying. She has a cause, something to believe in and God bless her for it. I wish more of todays youth had something to believe in. There would be less strife in their lives if they did belong to some cause. But for the adults in the room it can be annoying. She is proposing changing the way the world lives, climate change, we must do something, the sky is falling. Getting rid of fossil fuels isn't as easy as the climate change folks like to make it out, plastic is a petrochemical, a product of fossil fuels. How do we eliminate plastic from todays world? How much of a solar array is made out of plastic? She is passionate about the climate but doesn't understand what is really being done and what needs to be done to reduce fossil fuel use. I am okay with an electric car, but they are being charged by power generated by coal and natural gas. I would be a lot more inclined to follow along with the climate change party if they spent more time on solutions that wouldn't kill people instead of screaming that the sky is falling.
Peapod · 61-69, F
@Roadsterrider, I happen to believe in climate change, but I do feel you on this with having a teen like this that likely has been heavily influenced by her parents. You see this at Pro Life rallies and other gatherings of special interest. This girl is not unique. I do admire her fire, so to speak, and do believe she will learn to hold her own as an adult.

Honestly, she is not worth all this publicity and I do sense that conservatives are making more of her than anyone else. Most liberals I have spoken to are NOT keen about her being put out there for many reasons.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@Peapod I don't know if conservatives are making more out of her than anyone else, I don't watch much news either way. I read more than anything, when I read about this girl, it is usually in a forum like this where climate change believers and climate change hoaxers are using her to bash each other instead of discussing issues. I can't get on board with climate change because I don't feel it is out of the norms of climate and doesn't appear to be going there. Second, most of the climate change rhetoric is to force change without a suitable replacement, I can only speak for the US, but in this country about 70% of electrical power is generated by coal and natural gas. If we close all those plants, either a huge number of people will die from exposure or there won't be a tree left in the northern US, they will be burned to keep warm. What happens if we reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere? There are farmers and scientists who say reducing the carbon will greatly effect crop production, the reason for bumper crops in recent years is because of the extra CO2. My choices are either to freeze to death or starve, however, my wife will go first because without the plastic syringes she uses for her insulin, she has maybe a month or so before her organs start to shut down. As the polar caps melt, the level of salt in the arctic waters is diminished, raising the freezing point. At some point the ice will grow very rapidly and cause cooling to the extreme, or a mini ice age. It looks to me like that is where we are headed. I would like to see the planet clean and last forever, jumping the gun and doing things that will kill half of it's inhabitants isn't something I want to do.
@Roadsterrider what do you really mean??
Peapod · 61-69, F
@Roadsterrider well, I do appreciate your passion for your beliefs. We aren't going to change each other on it, but at least you have done your homework and are not being unkind in your argument.
@MarineBob uhhh, she doesn't do ass or tits. and also...

Its a hundred seconds to midnight now.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@Peapod Thank you Peapod, I appreciate that. Don't count me out though, I remain teachable, and if the evidence goes the other way, I hope I have someone who can discuss it without name calling and insults. That is the only way I see a solution coming for many of todays issues. It was nice chatting.
Peapod · 61-69, F
@Roadsterrider, I sense you are not foolish in your beliefs. I am teachable too. I hope to never lose that. It has been a pleasure speaking with you too.

Funny you should mention that. CNN recently settled in a lawsuit against them for misrepresentation of a teenager wearing a MAGA hat.

CNN down, WaPo, NBC and perhaps others to go.

@Thinkerbell Whatever he got, it's not enough. That completely innocent school kid was receiving death threats! The lying media made his life a living hell, and crickets from the same liberals who are livid over a few memes of a nasty liberal stooge.
