@MrBrownstone A lot of that aid is pretty well-placed; why put our own soldiers lives on the line when we can just shell out some cash to people who are fighting our enemies anyway? And in the case of Pakistan in particular, it's necessary for preventing nuclear war.

I will agree though, that some of that aid is dumb, like aid to the PRC (?????), Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Israel, and Turkey.

@MrBrownstone @Kingfish28 You guys realize the US is rich BECAUSE of shit like foreign aid. It's not a handout, it's about stabilizing countries the US can financially exploit.

If you cut foreign aid, those countries may collapse, and US companies cannot safely operate.

This is why Trump uses foreign aid as a negotiating tool and doesn't just cancel all of it at once. The US would have LESS money if it cancelled foreign aid, not more.

@MrBrownstone Our rather paltry amount of foreign aid is mostly military aid that we use to buy influence around the world, while keeping orders flowing to our military contractors. Foreign aid is not about altruism. It's about geopolitics and national interests.
