@KiwiBird it was the anti European feeling that started to develop in the 80s when. We were half way through the move over.
Papers running campaigns to "save our pint" etc. Why we never entered the euro and negotiated the exemption. Though thank the lord we didn't can you imagine the brexit debacle with that added in 🤦‍♂️
