What is the Perfect American President?

In the area of politics on SW there's a constant back and forth about Trump, and of late Obama; their differences, etc, their styles too, even their wives and to some degree, their families. Whether you like Obama, Trump or any of the current Democratic contenders vying for the Presidency they need to be looked at this way: because they're what we all are-human, they are subject to faults, failures and disappointment for themselves and those who both voted and did not vote for them. The reality is whoever gets in come 2020, little will change. That's the nature of the world of politics and those who are in that game. There never was, is not now and never will be a "perfect U.S. President"

@curiosi You actually think it is a good thing that Trump doesn't have people around him to listen to, that have more experience and knowledge than he does? That's a huge problem, not a feature.

While I agree with you very much that there will never be a perfect president, I disagree that little will change if a Democrat is elected. There will be profound changes on environmental, health and safety, immigration, climate change, LGBTQ rights, gun control, and other issues. Many if not most of his executive orders will be nullified. And no matter who gets in on the Democratic side, there will be a massive shift away from deliberate divisiveness, lying, and self-serving policies. The White House will function like a White House again, not a roller coaster of temporary appointees who haven't gone through Senate approval.

That used to be a lot more true than it is now.

I think some look for a perfect candidate or party in any political system.

But such people frankly are totally deluding themselves - if they can't grasp that the sheer point of politics - and all human interaction really - is compromise (the alternative is just shooting each other when we disagree over the pronunciation of 'scone'), then I don't think they should be voting even...

Regarding Trump, almost anyone is looking perfect-by-comparison right now, if you're on the left. (And tbh from my place on the right too)
Maybe change the “late” Obama part. It seems like you mean Obama is dead. Unless he is and I missed the memo.

Forget perfect presidents. There’s no such thing as a perfect leader.
@RemovedUsername1005333 The expression as relating to time not being deceased, I said, "of late".

Trump is the closest thing the US has had as a perfect president in the history of presidents in this country

Funny (really funny), that's just what he says.
