@thatscottishguy I think you have totally misunderstood my position. I'm not a Tory - I tend towards Libertarianism if anything - and I don't have a problem with Scottish independence. But the GDP of Scotland as an independent nation is not high enough to support the policies of the SNP - even Alex Salmond was forced to concede that Oil was not the cash cow it was once thought to be. And no matter what I think of the EU, the pipe-dream of ScotNats to be an immediate part of it is a nonsense. You only have to look at the countries lining up to join to realise that an independent Scotland with no real wealth of its own to offer is not going to be fast-tracked. It will be a wait of years - by which time the EU in its present form will probably have ceased to exist.

Get real, son!

P.S. I think that in another referendum, when the realities are presented to your fellow-countrymen, they will grumble a lot but will not take the plunge.
