The Republicans stand behind him and defend him... but really, what concerns them the most is that Pence is complicit in all of this and that means that Pelosi would be President. Literally, that's the only possible reason they could stand behind him.
The Democrats... the way they are botching every last investigation and inquiry... no one could possibly be that incompetent. It has to be intentional. They don't want to go all in, because if they win... and Pence isn't implicated, then he could run for President... and would likely beat anyone the Democrats put up, because the party is obsessed with having an ultra-progressive candidate that cannot win a national election. The Democrats want this to go down to the wire so the Republicans are caught with their pants down when the election finally warms up in Iowa and NH.
