Do Kurdish people deserve statehood and the right of self-determination?

It's a bit of a rhetorical question because the answer seems so obvious. Having helped to defeat ISIS, they've now been left at the mercy of the Turkish army. Here is a really interesting interview with a British volunteer in Rojava which will not appear in the mainstream media.

P.S. I know some people will argue that what is happening is not Trump's fault and that America and the West have no responsibility. This is an ally against ISIS which is being attacked by a NATo equipped army. If you want an isolationist foreign policy then working with allies you plan to later betray is not that.

In addition, the Kurds have had to release their ISIS prisoners and refugees from the Islamic state are being 'resettled' in Kurdish territory. If the 'Rojavan ISIL' ever becomes a terrorist problem for anyone then please think back to what led to its creation.

I hear that argument not on deaf ears. I see them at side of it,but at the same time.... Fuck we in the middle east trying this shut for how long? It's worked when? Does anyone actually see that ever happening and if so how? Does anyone see anything ever coming out if it and to what benefit? There doesn't seem to be any clear objective or any end in sight to it.
Especially with pussy foot ways of fighting war these days.

@MethDozer If defeating ISIS is the priority then it makes sense to back the Kurds. If supporting national self-determination is a priority, likewise. Also peace and stability in the region would be better.

@Burnley123 Nation building doesn't work and isn't really a justifiable use of military IMHO.

As to peace and stability in the region. That's what I mean. Been trying that since WW2 and hasn't happened. Just gets worse and worse over there. You really see that as a possibility and worth the costs of ours? Seems the only thing fighting it does is export it across the globe.

@MethDozer The video is worth watching. The Kurds are capable of running their own state and they are doing so anyway, they just need Turkey not to invade.

@Burnley123 Yeah, do you ever see the region allowing it? Seriously, without us always there fighting the rest if them off? Do you see an end there?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MethDozer The problems are because of two intersecting issues. There are regional rivalries across national and religious lines and this would make the region unstable enough. What makes it worse is that the NATO and Russian power blocks are also involved and want 'the bastards who are their bastards' to win.

If foreign policy objectives were different, then peace would be possible. Yes, I realise that we are a long way from that happening but I'm still gonna call out the bullshit.

@Burnley123 So it never ends? Just few pyrric victories without and real benefit to us?
Great!

@MethDozer I care about 'us' as in people. I know its f***ed and getting worse
@Burnley123 Both of u know (You and Dozer) what's going on. Have u heard the Democracy Now report from a few days ago where Amy interviewed someone who volunteered there and was saying that these people practiced equality and feminism and ecology. Who the eff else does that?

Might there be a connection???

@Stilltryinghard They are all good things, no?
@Burnley123 Who would wanna destroy that though?
Lets write six word sentences...GO!

@Stilltryinghard The American Empire (which is not an empire... No way is it an empire) cares only about spreading peace, equality and democracy throughout the world. The historical record shows that at every turn and look how nice Iraq is now. In fact, I might go on holiday there next year. 😜
@Burnley123 That was too many words heh.
