The Republican National Committee is going to be swamped with new contributions as soon as Nancy makes her big announcement. 😉

Like I said

President Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign has begun fundraising off Democrats’ new calls for him to be impeached.

In an email sent by the campaign Tuesday afternoon, with the subject line “Impeachment?”, the campaign declares: “The Democrats know they have no chance of winning in 2020, so now they are crying, ‘Impeachment!'”

"Pres Trump: Nancy just called for impeachment. WITCH HUNT! I need you on my Impeachment Defense Team. ALL GIFTS 2X-MATCHED for 1 HOUR. Donate NOW," read a text message sent out by Trump's re-election campaign on Tuesday.

Moments after Pelosi's announcement, Trump posted several tweets, including, "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT" and "They never even saw the transcript of the call. A total Witch Hunt!"

Does anyone believe that Trump will release a complete, unaltered transcript tomorrow? I highly doubt it. Regardless, we need the whistleblower complaint that is required to be released to key congressional committees, because it will put the call in context and provide information on other questionable behavior.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@windinhishair Probably. Reports are, that despite badgering Zelensky about Biden, Trump never brought up the fact that he put a freeze on Ukraine’s aid package a few days before the call (and it’s unclear if Zelensky was even aware of it at this point). So there isn’t going to be a direct quid-pro-quo situation here no matter what.

It’s just kind of obvious wink-wink nudge-nudge, and the optics of all of this are pretty terrible. As they should be.
So Trump is a good guy after all? The accusations against him were all Democrat hysteria?
@GoldenWorm The whistleblower wants to testify before Congress. Will he be allowed that opportunity?
GoldenWorm · 51-55, M
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays DOJ (who has no legal authority here) and acting DNI (who does but is violating the law) are trying to block the whistleblower.
@GoldenWorm Sounds like a football game.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
You do realize the whisleblower never heard the call or saw the transcript?
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@beckyromero I think Trump is making a mistake here. The whistleblower law does not apply in this situation and this is setting a bad precedent for a President's ability to confer with other heads of state who are not going to want their private conversations released. Trump should have stood on executive privilege principles.

On the other hand, maybe he wants to release it.

@eli1601

House would have broad powers on obtaining any evidence it wants when conducting impeachments hearings. Nixon learned that lesson.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@beckyromero Broad powers, not unlimited powers

👍 We'll see just where this takes this. Interesting though.

Damn, besmirched again🤭
