@Wendy33 That's just it, it's not science fiction. Politicians are standing in the way of nuclear and solar shades would cost around $300 billion over 5 years to build and deploy. $300 billion divided by the developed nations is chump change. But those would actually solve the problem without drastically changing the economy or giving up more political control, which is why they're not pursued.

@Wendy33 Ah, they're definitely in the future, but not science fiction. We've already achieved fusion, albeit in weapons, the understanding is worked out. More of an engineering challenge at this point. Weather control just needs the energy in orbit. Which is waiting on fusion, realistically speaking.
