I know women mature faster but it strikes me that a seventeen (actually sixteen) year old being more grown up than the actual leader of the worlds most powerful country is weird.

N. B. Thunberg is the teenaged leader of the world school climate strike and the Donald is about 72.

@revenant They should tell her species survival is bad because parenting.
Northwest · M
@revenant She needs someone behind her? That's ridiculous.

@Northwest who is paying for her antics and who is profiteering from her especially that she is autistic has eating disorders personality problems and does not go to school
Northwest · M
@revenant Your concern for her well being is touching. Really.

By eating disorders, I'm sure you mean she does not eat meat, and she avoids foods that use carbon heavy methods to produce.

As to her antics, I'm sure you're referring to the many speeches she gave at the UN, New York, Congress, European Union, Davos, etc., the book she published (and donated the proceeds to charity) and her extreme candor.

As to her not going to school, I'm sure you mean missing some school. Yes, some of her teachers mentioned this, but she seems to be doing fine on her own.

As to " who is profiteering from her", let's first start with who is not, and the list is long:

- The meat industry

- The global food industry

- OPEC, whose secretary general declared that what she inspires, represents the biggest threat to the oil industry.

- The travel industry.

- The airline ecosystem

- The gun industry

- Luxury hotels

and that's just a tiny list.

She was an unpaid volunteer for a Swedish company, but when she found out they made money off her using her name, she quit and asked them to cease and desist.

So, essentially, her parents are paying for her living and travel expenses, for the most part. Just like most parents of a 15-16 year old. Except, as it turns out, it's much less expensive in her case. She doesn't spend all her time at the mall buying clothes, she doesn't fly all over the place for vacations. When she addressed Davos, she took a 32 hour train ride.

Her activism began at home. She convinced her parents to stop eating meat, and stop using air travel. This was especially difficult for her mom, who's an internationally known opera singer. They listened and supported her.

Her story is amazing. At 15, she entered and won a writing contest, put together by a Swedish paper. She said she was inspired by students, in the US, striking, following the Parkland mass shooting. So, she decided to strike to convince the Swedish Assembly, to do something about climate change, following Sweden's hottest summer in 262 years.

The rest is called social media. You've heard about it, right? Her message was heard, and it echoed across the world. When she traveled to New York, she took a sailboat. The trip lasted 15 days. Social media again. Some Brexit idiots heard about it, and decided to joke about her drowning. It backfired, and generated a ton of positive social media for her cause. And, it snowballed from there.

But, enough about her, what were you doing at 15?

Thank you, Northwest! for displaying a rather down to earth comment to someone who was trying to make a child (and her parents) look horrible.

Especially the "what were YOU doing at 15?" comment!!1. hahaha!!! fantastic!!! 🤣🤣🤣!!!

@Burnley123 I am learning from my daughter-in-law :-)

@WalksWith It would be a nice if she ever comes up with a speaking point of her own. Apparently, the ostriches, worldwide, went out of their way to denigrate this 16 year old. It's in France, the UK and now the US. The sound bites (surprise) are echoed here:

- who is paying for her antics

- who is profiteering

- she is autistic

- does not go to school

Their concern is touching. They, however, should be concerned, that a 16 year, has more awareness of what's going on in the world, than all of them combined.

@Northwest

Yup!! the canned faux concern is being repeated all over every continent of the planet, it's all the same and it makes them look ridicules, silly, and ignorant. And guess what? She really doesn't care what the foul-mouthed greedy, ignorant think of her! And I love watching them having a hissy fit over her! It's so funny!

@Northwest Its the same attack lines on the UK right. There is a long long history of attacking the person to distract from their ideas and being sixteen apparantly doesn't stop that.
