He makes UK politics look reasonable 😁
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@meJess Well, PM Boris Johnson has been labeled the Trump of the UK. How’s that?

@SimplyTracie Belabouring topics that could be solved in conversation? Making an argument, you are either with or against me. The only sensible position he put out was having an election. Otherwise he is acting like a bunch of warmongers utilizing their parliamentary position is not something they should do.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User That’s with Heads of States do though.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User Okay. Jeez. 😝
SW-User
@SimplyTracie You mean, 'what' heads of state do. Maybe, seems he's been denied and I do encourage that as it to me it's an abuse of power. Also, while it's not my country, and the Queen would likely never intervene in Canada, we are like a fostered child, but the theoretical means exist and if someone who can't find a plurality in parliament in the UK, can simply prorogue it sets a precedent. So on that topic I do carry interest, there.

@SimplyTracie The british public didnt elect boris as pm the last one did absolutely nothing and went against the will of the public boris as promised us brexit by the 31st of october i have the upmost respect for him
He doesn't lie he doesn't have babies and children arrested and put in cages nor does he become friends with evil dictators :)
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User You’re correct. My typo. The Queen has no power to intervene or does she if she wanted to?
SW-User
@SimplyTracie Technically I think she can just suspend parliament on any whim. That's not the practice; and it's archaic a royal family has this power. But technically, the UK is a monarchy. Canada is a child of the UK, we have a Governor General that acts as the head of state, who can be overruled by the Queen, but it won't ever happen. I take interest here, as I don't feel Boris is acting in the interest of democracy in wanting to suspend parliament just to make Brexit happen. Theoretically, he can. The act of Parliament denying that motion only holds such value. He can dissolve at his wish; but my opinion is that if he does that he's acting a baffoon, and using that tool shouldn't be used lightly.
SW-User
@SimplyTracie Theoretically, it's why in a healthy state of democracy a monarchy is not needed, and when it's not healthy, why it could be possible a level head could calm things.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User We had a monarchy here a long time ago and from what I read it worked pretty well for the people.
SW-User
@SimplyTracie Reference, please?
SW-User
@SimplyTracie Obviously there is someone else on this feed ?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User Reference to what?
SW-User
@SimplyTracie Is your last reply to me ?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SW-User Nope
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie She intervened in the UK a few days ago. 28th of August. It related to BREXIT and Boris Johnson voting to leave the EU. I don't recall the details but the Queen does not do that very often.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@DallasCowboysFan I wonder if her opinions are respected in the UK. 🤔
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie Good Question. There are as many people that dislike the Royal Family as there are that love them. But, I don't know if the British separate the personal lives from political activities. I guess it depends on the subject matter. I think the Brits are evenly split 50/50 with respect to BREXIT and leaving the EU.
SW-User
@DallasCowboysFan 70/30 in favour of leaving the EU and 90% of the british population DGAF about the royal family
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@SW-User If it is 70%, then why is there so much difficulty getting an agreement and a vote from Parliament? Is it party politics and protecting their personal and professional interests?
SW-User
@DallasCowboysFan Because even though thats what thee british public want MPs who didnt want brexit are being awkward twats
