What's causing the downturn in the economy?

America SHOULD have had a recession after the dot.com bubble burst. But the economy got tweaked to promote a real estate boom, that continued to the GFC, which led to the bail outs and "Quantitative Easing" (printing money) and that has pushed the fundamentals out to worse than they were before the first GFC. (Yes Folks... It will be back) So the economy is just plain running out of steam. Artificially low interest rates, printing money. No aces left up anyones sleeves. Made a little worse by Tax cuts NOT going to those who need them and a trade war. As much as I would love to blame Trump for this, I cant. Hes not helping. But the seeds of this were in place a long time ago. The US Foreign deficit is the swamp that is going to drown America. And even if they pull another fake rabbit out of the hat, it will get them in the end. The Recession will get everyone. Just some worse than others.
Frankly, if I was the democrats I would give Trump a free ride to his second term, so they dont have to take the blame for whats coming.
The only card left in the deck is a massive devaluation of the $US. and if that happens other nations will do the same, no gain.

Markets don’t like uncertainty. And your president is the epitome of uncertainty...he’s so erratic

So is it also his fault that the economy has been doing so well up to this little hiccup?
