Parliament is prorogued every year. The only differences this year are the timing and length of the prorogation. Since many MPs, including the (soon to be ex-) Speaker, are using the most unscrupulous means to try to frustrate the previous decisions of the people and of Parliament itself, I think the government is fully entitled to use all legal means at its disposal.

@MartinII I am so glad John Bercow is quitting. The guy is power crazy prick.

@Quizzical Yes. Unfortunately he has already done plenty of damage.

@MartinII How do you work that out, we had a GE since then and the ONLY person whos caused this is Boris by his very short sightedness over certion members of his party and thinking everyone in Parliment would do as he wants. He is yet again another deluded PM.

@milkymum1 It’s rather that Johnson thinks the people will give him a majority in an election, in which case the majority in Parliament will indeed do as he wants. Whether he is right or not, we must wait and see.

@MartinII If BJ was that confident of a GE he wouldn't run away from all the confrataion he gets, if you can't face the people then you can't be PM.

@milkymum1 But Johnson wanted an election after Parliament had passed its anti-no deal bill. The Commons voted against it.
