Is Boris J trying to get his head chopped off?

England has some quaint old traditions for treason.

Bizarre comment. He is bringing the longest parliamentary session since 1641 to a right and proper end, so that another session can start in October. Prorogation is a perfectly normal and functioning part of the British Parliament. EVERY session is ultimately prorogued.

Prorogation has also been used for clear political purposes at least three times in the last fifty years, and each of those Prime Ministers survived the axe.

The real problem here is that the Remoaners have used every devious trick in the parliamentary handbook to try and stop Brexit - the will of the British people - and now when the government actually used a perfectly legitimate action to bring endless debate to an end, they all holler 'mama' !!!

@angela2106 This is not normal convention and you know it.

I'm not even a hardcore remainer.

@Burnley123 Please don't split hairs. Prorogation happens at the end of every session. Even the blessed GUARDIAN states

What is prorogation?
Prorogation is a formal mechanism to end a session of parliament, normally lasting only a short time until proceedings begin again with a new Queen’s speech. It means parliament’s sitting is suspended and it ends all current legislation under discussion.

It is normal for this to happen every autumn. The current parliamentary session, which began in June 2017, is the longest in almost 400 years.

Of course it is being used here politically, but merely to bring on one of a range of denouements to the present ridiculous stand offs and silly-billy japes of the parliamentary ultra-remainers.

It is a profound stain on the British parliament that they have gone to extremes to frustrate the expressed will of the British people, and clearly the best option is to dissolve this parliament and hold fresh elections. Such fun. Which would retainers choose? The devil or the deep blue sea? Exiting the EU or Jeremy Corbyns crazed marxism. Being old enough to remember even the dark days (literally) of the Atlee Labour government, plus the lunacies of Wilson's "the pound in your pocket has not been devalued" profligate administration, I know the real horrors of true left wing government. God help the UK id it doesn't just get on with getting out, and let Boris or his successors muddle through in a jolly good British way.

And your obscure joke about William Joyce - he didn't actually lose his head - just his neck was stretched a bit.

@angela2106 Right, link please.

I didn't realise that anyone was seriously pretending this was normal.

I can think of a number of politicians for whom the term traitor is very appropriate and it should be their head on the block rather than Boris. The vast majority of British people and business want this done. Ended. We’re weary and we want the word Brexit forgotten for ever.

How very British haw haw.

He's a blowhard in it for his own ego. Those behind him are libertarian ideologues.
