What's the future going to be like?

It sounds like they want there to be an East and a West economy. Totally separate from each other. In a way I can see that as it would create a lot of manufacturing jobs but not everyplace has the materials we've come to expect for this stuff. You'd really have to re-engineer a lot of common items. Populations would shift a lot too as the shipping/transportation system would be totally changed. It would kind of be a vegan Stone age with better knowledge.
