Actually, it was Macron that suggested to BoJo that the tables could be used as footstools so of course boris being boris took the joke one step further. The French weren't at all bothered by it, only the numpty brits who couldn't be arsed reading the whole story were.

@ThePerfectUsername Thanks for that information. It does not change my opinion of the man though. I can see that Bojo is going to end a lot of people's friendships just like when Trump was elected.
Many friends who tolerated each others political views for the sake of peace are going to be at odds with each other now.
It's sad but inevitable I think.
