Please accept that I think President Trump is a dolt. I am not and never have been affiliated with either party.
He did not declare himself as the Second Coming or as King of Israel or even the US. It was more of his self-aggrandizing ham-handed sense of humor. What it did do is once more distract from the increasingly urgent question of - if he does run again, who will be his opponent?
I personally think that whatever else Donald Trump is, he is crafty. Every time any serious public discussion of the next election begins - he does something else to outrage and horrify everyone and changes the focus. Take “I would like you to put Greenland in a bag and sell it to me, and if you don’t, I won’t come to supper” for example.
It is a big, glorious game and he is having a wonderful time. He does not need to be President. He always thought he was.
The far left thinks he is certifiable, the far right thinks he is the best President ever and the rest of us think everybody’s insane but us. It is the ‘rest of us’ upon whom the election will hang.
If Trump is re-elected, he should invite the Democrats to a thank-you dinner of burgers and fries and humble pie for dessert.
Don’t focus on Trump. It’s 439 days till the next election. Focus on that.
EDIT: The more we hear about Trump, the less we learn about anybody else.
