@Nimbus Maybe it's because I'm not a Christian or something, but the whole idea of loving your enemy as yourself always sounded pretty lame to me, not to mention dangerous.

I always liked Hillel's take better:

If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? And if not now, when?

With Trump, in particular, I think that the difference in approaches is really critical. His latest Jesus crack, notwithstanding, Trump is not only not a turn the cheek other cheek kind of guy himself, but he's exactly the kind of guy who takes advantage of other people when they do.

I think its important not to fall into the trap of loving or hating him, but to look at what he does and says critically, looking at the public interest, your self interest and his, as well as why those things tend to make you lean towards the love side or the hate side with respect to him.
