Ever wonder how Trump draws such numbers to his rallies?
Workers at the Pennsylvania petrochemical plant where President Donald Trump spoke Tuesday were told that if they didn't attend the event, they either had to use paid time off or receive no pay for the day.

At least some of the workers who attended the speech were instructed not to protest the President, who told the crowd of workers at the Royal Dutch Shell plant he would be imploring their union leaders to support his reelection.

The instructions to the workers came in a memo, a copy of which was obtained by CNN's Polo Sandoval from a congressional source. That source was given the memo by a person in Beaver County, Pennsylvania -- the site of the plant.
but just because they were told that does not mean that the crowd also doesn't support him

@Jackaloftheazuresand lol, captive audience is by definition not there willingly. It's a farce

@GoldenWorm If I told you to go to your home and you were already going to your home does that make you my captive? No, it's coincidence. What anyone should say is "probably a farce," not speak in the definite

@Jackaloftheazuresand Yup, I'm sure that's how it went. It's why the ultimatum was put out.

@Jackaloftheazuresand Jack, think about how this works.

Most people who aren't making 6 figure salaries are working from check to check.

I assume you haven't looked into this and what actually happened.

Most of the folks involved work 56 hours a week, with 16 of those hours being overtime pay. Taking the option to not go would mean taking an unplanned day off, eating into vacation as well as sacrificing 8 hours of overtime pay.

So, were they held against their will? No. But this is the definition of a captive audience.

@JoeyFoxx That's not what's being contested by me here. Two things.

Gray speaks as if she actually knows that was the reason they showed up.

Worm says that a captive audience has to not be willing. Another claim that the workers didn't want to be there for Trump.

Neither statement has been proven. So show me some interviews where the workers, as a bulk not just a few because it was said this is how he gets such numbers, said they would not have attended if their pay wasn't at risk. Unless you have that you're arguing points that weren't made by me. I'm anal about words, moreso when it comes to political opponents and I'm tired of all the mind-reading being spouted as fact.

@JoeyFoxx Don't roll your eyes at me. That kind of thing is the reason conversation breaks down. I had thought I gave you a response of dignity, I even gave you a personal background on myself. If that's all you have to add then don't waste my time in the future.

Simply put, a paid audience isn’t legit.

The Trump administration over supports the petroleum industry.

It’s an unspoken quid pro quo.

There’s no other way to look at it.
