This isn't about short term, but long term. So we don't know if it is a fail.

Trump is fundamentally incapable of admitting a mistake. If he changes course, which is unlikely, he'll blame the failure on someone else.

He is not going to admit to this. He's also lying to the farmers. China decided to suspend all imports of US agricultural products. Last year, Trump had the GOP Congress allocate $Bs as welfare to farmers, when he started his tariff war against China, announcing that a tariff war is easy to win.

It is not.

US consumers pay for the tariffs as an extra tax. China does not pay the tariff.

Admit he was wrong? About anything at all?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Conservatives can't admit they were wrong about anything, lest they be seen as fallible and people start questioning other things they've said.

@MistyCee IN my personal experience, I've admitted I was wrong on multiple occasions. Conservatives I know? Not even once.
@daisymay I was really focussing on trade, but since you went there, GW Bush was pretty candid about some of his mistakes, and I could probably think of other examples.

I really think Trump is best viewed as something other than right or left. Calling him a Conservative normalizes his behavior.

I think there's a very good chance that he'll call it quits, and he's already probably got people looking for a way to spin it, but the odds of him admitting failure are prettly close to nil.

😂😂😂😂 I don’t think he will ever utter the words that he was wrong or failed anything
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Never was a good idea...he wont admit failure.

@PainfulTruth If by "discontinued" you mean "utter failures that ran out of money", sure.

@PainfulTruth Yeah, it's amazing what starting with billions of dollars and offloading all the risks onto other people can do for your ability to still have billions of dollars. That doesn't make him a good businessman or negotiator.

That would mean loss of face....

I’m terrified re:China. China isn’t playing fair. They cheated to their own advantage for a very long time. Clinton, Bush and Obama let it happen. Weaponizing D&T and whiplash tweets by the Trump administration isn’t my preferred method of dealing with China. I’m worried about the escalations and the absence of diplomacy. When goods don’t cross borders, soldiers will - and this terrifies me. France 3% tax on American mega companies (Google, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, etc.) is short sighted and utterly stupid and will not stand.
