Because of the things that are said about the immigrants. Those statements are often racist. Simply being opposed to illegal immigration isn't racist. Many people are opposed without denigrating them due to their Hispanic heritage.

@windinhishair there's a difference between being against illegal immigrantion and all immigrants. Illegals break laws by crossing the border without proper documentation and bring disease
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Mountainlady16 They do not bring disease any more than anyone else entering the country in any other way. You are making a racist statement and don't even realize it. That's very sad.
Wouldn’t people from poorer countries bring more disease though? They don’t have access to vaccinations in those cases, I’d assume. If so, they would be more prone to certain diseases, regardless of their skin color or country of origin. @windinhishair
xRedx · M
@windinhishair I don't think you really understand what the definition of racist means. They do cross the border illegally and some actually bring diseases. These are facts. You being offended by that doesn't make it racist.
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Native Not necessarily. Being Hispanic does not make them any more disease-prone than people flying into LaGuardia, for example. Read your history. In the 1930s, Jews were accused of causing disease and being no better than rats. Before that it was Italians, Irish, Chinese, etc. We're going through the same racist bullshit again. It needs to stop. People are people.

@xRedx When the president of the US calls Mexicans rapists and criminals, that is a racist comment. Being a sycophant and repeating his racist rants doesn't make them true.

Some people bring disease into LAX when they fly in, or to Miami, or any other airport or port of entry. Saddling an entire ethnicity with accusations of disease is racist. Period.
Yeah, I’m not talking about their skin color being the cause of them potentially bringing disease, though. It’s their lack of access to modern medicine. I didn’t name any specific country, I just said any poorer one. Of course this is just an assumption. I don’t know what countries vaccinate and which do not, so it may not even matter if the country they are from is poor or not. @windinhishair
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Native Then why bring it up?
Mountainlady16 · 26-30, F
@windinhishair others are checked for diseases
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Mountainlady16 Oh? Is that right? When was the last time you flew and were checked for disease? I thought so.
Mountainlady16 · 26-30, F
@windinhishair the fact that miniorities have a higher rate of commiting crimes. Plus every illegal gas committed a crime by crossing the border without proper documentation
xRedx · M
@windinhishair Well that's true. He didn't say all. Some illegal immigrants from Mexico have done just that. Killed and raped when they shouldn't have even been here in the first place. Some get deported multiple times before committing a crime like that. You getting offended by that doesn't make it racist. These are cold hard facts. There's nothing racist about prosecuting criminals.
xRedx · M
@Mountainlady16 you're exactly right. Them committing more crimes just makes them multiple offenders.
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Mountainlady16 Every study shows immigrants commit FEWER crimes than other Americans. Exactly the opposite of your racist comment.
Mountainlady16 · 26-30, F
@windinhishair I mean immigrants for Visas. I've never flew outside the country. I been on a plane 2 times tx and back for a swim meet a few years ago
It’s a good point, whether either of us are properly informed on it or not. I’m pointing out an actual issue not related to race, which is how immigration laws/issues should be addressed. Why are you trying to write it off? @windinhishair
Mountainlady16 · 26-30, F
@windinhishair every illegal immigrant has committed least one crime crossing the border without proper documentation
xRedx · M
@windinhishair What?! Them being here is already crime. Unless EVERY US CITIZEN has already a crime, you're misinformed. Besides, there aren't studies suggesting that. Get your facts straight.
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@xRedx There is nothing racist about prosecuting criminals. But since immigrants commit crimes at rates less than other Americans, it is patently racist to accuse them of being criminals.

Trump's racist and white supremacist rhetoric is creating an epidemic of white supremacist hate crimes and killings. If you support the president, you are complicit.
Mountainlady16 · 26-30, F
@windinhishair and idiot Mexican aren't a race their a nationality.
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@xRedx Do some reading instead of watching right-wing hate media. Immigrants commit crimes at rates lower than other Americans.
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Mountainlady16 So you'd be comfortable with another label for hating Mexicans? What would you prefer to call your hate?
Mountainlady16 · 26-30, F
@windinhishair immigrants aren't Americans and funny highest crime rates come from miniorities
xRedx · M
@windinhishair ohh I see where you coming from. Your last paragraph just makes you lose all credibility, if you ever had any of course. Just admit you hate Trump. There's nothing wrong about that. But you saying all this nonsense without any evidence just makes you look silly quite honestly.
Mountainlady16 · 26-30, F
@windinhishair I don't hate Mexican I hate illegals
