I have a stupid question.

If Bernie Sanders is an Independent, why doesn’t he run as such in the presidential election?

Nobody has ever won an election as an independent ticket. But I think Bernie has enough funds and brand name to try.

@Lostpoet I think he should have. I think he should have had the confidence to run as an Independent. Show them how it’s done. ✅ Be a trailblazer.

@SimplyTracie I don't think I could ever vote for him just because of a few things he has said but he is very popular with college age kids. I think he might have won the election over Trump too
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lostpoet We will never know but he is very popular with the 18-25 year olds.
Lostpoet · M
@SimplyTracie Did he die?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lostpoet Huh?
Lostpoet · M
@SimplyTracie I thought he was running again.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lostpoet I mean we will never know if he could have won as an Independent
Lostpoet · M
@SimplyTracie oh yeah. Lol
I think the smartest thing is for him to run on the Democratic ticket because they really don't have anyone that can compete with him rigjt now.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lostpoet I personally think he was cheated out of the nomination in 2016
Lostpoet · M
@SimplyTracie I do too. I think the Clinton name just had to many blue blood backers.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lostpoet Yeah. I guess that’s how it works. 🤮

@SimplyTracie A little of me actually liked Bernie because he reminded a little bit of Allen Ginsberg and ice always wondered if the beatniks had it right. But a lot of me doesn't like Bernie.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lostpoet Regardless of how you feel about him, the DNC did a disservice to him and hopefully it doesn’t happen again to any candidate

@SimplyTracie Sure he is. Shows how much they are being brainwashed in our schools.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@GunSmoke9 How are we being brainwashed?
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SimplyTracie Socialist and commie professors. Not enough capitalists, free market professors. Explains why so many young people support socialism, even communism.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@GunSmoke9 Is Social Security and Medicare a form of Socialism?
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SimplyTracie Yes they are. That doesn't mean we should be pushing for more socialism. Haven't we been told that SS might not make it another 20, 30 years?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@GunSmoke9 Do you think Government should stay out of Industry and allow industry to do whatever they want? To allow capitalist to do anything without government intervention?

Oh a recent debate I had about the Postal Service. Should the Postal Service be privatized?
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SimplyTracie No I never said that. There are times when Government is needed. Food inspections, keeping an eye on the oil, coal industries. Ect. How much is too much government? Smoking in bars should be left up to the owners, not the local government. Some places kids need a permit just to sell lemon ice. Ect.
We need to study the pros and cons of privatizing the post office.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@GunSmoke9 I know you didn’t say that. I’m just curious to know where you draw the line over government control on private industry.

Should government control the price of prescription drugs?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@GunSmoke9 I totally agree.. And that is the point of socialism. To do the things the free market will not do on its own, to balance the books for the people. In other words, to keep capitalism honest and provide that which doesnt show an immediate profit, but is a long term resource, like a healthy, educated workforce, clean water, air and food.
