Do you think colleges are indoctrinating students?

Do you believe that colleges are using their acadamia to indoctrinate their student body to believe left leaning politics?

Yes or No, explain.

Actually, kind of. My high school was extremely liberal Democrat. All the social studies teachers were such, and some pressed their views very forcefully. I remember my American History and Current Issues teacher argued with a conservative Republican girl about her views and gave her a poor grade on her paper. One of the few Republicans in the school told me that he told a girl that he was Republican and she answered, “oh, that’s bad.” My school had over 1,000 people in it, and I recall only knowing 3 Republicans, a girl who talked way too much to the point where she was blind to social nuances, a girl who acted a bit homophobic and transphobic towards me, and a guy that regularly wore anti-liberal political shirts just after Trump became president. I was friends with a trans girl in freshman year that often made jokes about murdering conservatives.

I don’t know if that spreads to college though.

@ShaythePanTransMan I grew up in a school where being left wing at all had you ostracized and excluded because everyone was conservative. That's a regional thing more than just a function of education. Self-feeding systems.

Also teachers in the US tend to be treated like shit and underpaid so you may not always get great people.

Colleges can be better. You'll find that like... gender studies will be very left wing and business will be pretty right wing. Politics are very ugly right now so the tensions between both 'sides' are a lot more hostile than they were 20 years ago though.

@ShaythePanTransMan I'm thinking the school you went to was very, very expensive

@CountScrofula That is horrid. I’m so glad I live in the more liberal northeast XD Actually, here teachers seem to be paid well. My Personal Finance teacher said he makes over $100,000 a year, but then again he’s been teaching there a long time. All of my teachers were amazing except for my Photography teacher. Yeah, that’s true.
@Fernie It was actually a public school in one of the richest towns in my state. It’s one of the top schools in my state. They gave me a beyond fantastic education, and I’m very grateful towards the school, especially with all their advanced and current and passionate computer sciences courses. I took Intro. to (Java) Programming, Intro. to Web Programming, an independent study in CS, Building Web Applications (the one I’m most grateful for), and AP CS Principles. I would’ve taken Embedded Systems, but it didn’t fit in my schedule. The social studies courses in particular were very, very good.

On that I can agree. I was never “singled out” for my views politically in college because I kept them to myself. But some of the vitriol right now has gone too far, regardless of where someone falls on the political spectrum.
I am very happy that I am not a current student in this environment!@CountScrofula
