Do you think colleges are indoctrinating students?

Do you believe that colleges are using their acadamia to indoctrinate their student body to believe left leaning politics?

Yes or No, explain.

Academia is critical thought - you're literally taught to challenge core concepts of your education if said education is any good. Indoctrination is bad education.

Further more, since when are all the STEM folks left wing? Since when are business majors left wing? Economics majors? Accountants?

I'm literally a union vice president for university professors. If everyone here was "indoctrinated" my union work would be a lot fucking easier.

@CountScrofula I’m just asking questions I’ve been seeing. I don’t think this I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts are.

@CountScrofula yeah I don't remember a whole lot of political talk in my math and physics classes

@TakingBackMidgard Haha sorry. I hear it a lot and it annoys me.

Colleges certainly are places where left wing thought tends to get a lot of traction, particularly in the humanities and social sciences.

But my standard argument fro that is conservatism tends to wither under academic scrutiny.

@CountScrofula See, conservatives get told by their political masters that education is a bad thing because liberals are educated. If you go to college, you get "indoctrinated" into liberalism...somehow. The details are a little unclear.

But, they're sure it's happening, even though they've never set foot on a college campus or attended any classes.

@SW-User Same. This is more so I want to do writing on my free time about current situations.

This was a question I’ve seen and wanted to hear everyone’s input.

I went to Perdue University and got my Masters in environmental science. Granted I opted out of gen we course by doing them online before hand.

Never seen a thing via indoctrination.

However I went to Ivy Tech and IUSB for computer science and the Gen ed they have their such as sociology I’ve been told even by some of my more left leaning friends seemed biased.

I wouldn’t know though as I never took that class.

@TakingBackMidgard I wouldn't be surprised if there was somewhat of a bias, but calling it indoctrination in the vein of Maoist re-education is kind of silly.

@SW-User yeah I’m
Pretty sure where some people might see indoctrination is more so a biased professor charmed a student.

But it can be different anywhere.

We all have the choice to accept or deny what we are given
