Serious question. Why should illegal immigrants get free health care?

@Pherick So should we wait until they have lived here long enough to pay taxes? Or as soon as they cross the boarder can they head straight to the hospital for $500,000 surgery?
Many of my family members don't "pay" taxes. While it's true that it is deducted from the pay checks, they get all that and more back when they file. And how do you prove that an "undocumented" person has paid anything at all in taxes?

@xinbaba what would it matter? Lots of healthy people would be paying for your healthcare and none of their own...so should we just let you die too?

@Pherick They might say that, but its untrue. Maybe this isn't in all states, but in mine they get everything they can from social services. Rental, food, health care, even free phones and cable. It's rampant.
They aren't all bad people and many of them are very hard workers, but between what they make and what benefits they get they sent money home and walk around with wads of cash in their pockets. They are far from suffering here. They left Mexico because they were suffering there:)

No one walks into a hospital and gets $500,000 surgery, illegal or not, unless its an emergency. Anyone, citizens, an illegal or foreign visitor, gets treated in an emergency.

@ravenwind43 The average Mexican worker works twice as hard as the average American worker. This is the reason they make so much money. They are honest, hard-working people who don't sit on their butts in a false sense of entitlement.

@JaggedLittlePill If I stand behind Mexicans in a the checkout line at the grocery store and they use their food stamp card how is that not proof? Not just one but most. I have no reason to make that up lol.

@Pherick You can "prove" my family pays taxes (or gets larger refunds) because they file a record of it. Documentation.

They just don't file for tax returns, so everything they pay stays in the system.

What language a person speaks has nothing to do with citizenship or immigration status. I knew a jazz clarinet player from the Philippines who had lived in Taiwan for forty years, and he spoke his native tongue plus a good deal of English, but only knew enough Chinese to say hello and thank you and buy a pack of smokes. Yes, I agree, he should not have been smoking as a clarinet player. But he was not an illegal immigrant, despite his lack of interest in learning the local language.

@SW-User I agree they work harder. Unfortunately they are not paid a fair wage for how hard they work. Employers should be held accountable.

Perhaps people wouldn't be so eager to come into this country illegally if they knew being illegal was pretty worthless in terms of earning a living.
