Country non specific question: Your thoughts political candidates speaking other languages in debates and campaigns?

Without translation! Note few understand latin.

I am fine with it when it has a purpose.

If a political candidate in Algeria spoke in a Tamazight language ,which weren't officially recognized till recently, rather than Arabic (which has been the official language since 1954 and is claimed to be the language of the majority), he is making an important political statement. Just because the majority speaks an Arabic dialect, it does not mean they are Arabs, or we are all Arabs.

We tend to look at minorities and lot of the minorities tend to look at themselves as completely separate from the majority but the truth is acknowledging a minority is acknowledging a part of yourself, no matter who you are. For thousands of years, all of us, all over the world mixed together, we traded, we traveled, we married and multiplied.. We are fundamentally the same. Speaking a different language no matter the context is a part of self discovery.

Unless someone is asking them to translate, or the question was in a different language, they should stick to the natives’ tongue. It’s patronizing.

@QuixoticSoul Good point. I just want to make this more inclusive though. Too many poles are country specific biased. Especially political poles
