Clearly not. Marxism, put simply, would have the government control the resources of, and the means of production of goods and services. Under Marxism, there'd be no private property, all owned by the state. That's just about as far from the policies Bernie and Corbyn set out as you can get.

In point of fact, if you really want to get technical and nitpick terms, pure socialism would have the populace, i. e. workers, control the resources of, and the means, of production of goods and services, essentially the exact OPPOSITE of Marxism.

Socialist policies of the flavor Bernie and Corbyn describe, I would say, are designed to 'unrig' the system to favor all of society instead of the owner class. Mild, at best.

Per, here's a description of the flow of money with these kinds of socialist policies.

Money > Government > People

Programs like this in the past provided roads, Fire departments, police departments, militaries, civic services... the indispensable things we already have.

Under a Marxist doctrine, here's the cash flow, as it were:

Money > Government

Under this... throw in hefty dose of corruption and you actually do get the Soviet Union. Cue the dramatic music.

To speak from a personal perspective across the ocean from you guys, I'd much rather have my taxes pay for some kid's education and a Cleveland granny's healthcare than line some rich dickhead's pocket.

Of course, this isn't going to convince anybody on this thread. If you're too dense to take things objectively, this will slide right off you.
