No Collusion!! (But very open to persuasion)

It seems the wannabee be king Trump, and current narcissist in chief although claiming over and over that he and his campaign didn't 'collude' with Putin/Russia in the follow up to the 2016 election, he's not dismissive of doing it for the 2020 election.

Tripping himself up over and over when he's faced with open ended questions and not the pre-arranged and soft balling Laura Ingraham and Hannity, like a young child caught lying and lying about lying he can't help himself.

And there's only rumour so far that Sara Sanders is to be replaced by O J Simpson.

A few comments from the twitter feed of George Conway...Yep, the husband of Kellyanne (Alternative facts) Conway. 😂

And one from the official WH twitter account showing a dignified Trump.

Yeah, next he will stoop so low as to get the RNC to engage a discredited foreign agent to build an unverified dossier and use that info to get warrants to spy on the Democrats!

@SevIsPamprinYouAlways that's not a strawman you nimrod, the two would have to be having a discourse and he would have to be using it as an argument. He's not, it's just a mocking comment

The thing is the opposite of that isn't true..
In September 2015, the Washington Free Beacon, a conservative publication, retained the services of Fusion GPS, a private Washington D.C. political research firm, to conduct research on several primary Republican Party candidates including candidate Trump. The research was unrelated to Russia and was ended once Trump was determined to be the presidential nominee.

The firm was subsequently hired by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee through their shared attorney at Perkins Coie, Marc Elias. Fusion GPS then hired Steele[31] to investigate Trump's Russia-related activities.[26] According to CNN, Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee took over the financing of the inquiry into Donald Trump and produced what became known as the Trump dossier.[32]

In July 2016, Steele supplied a report he had written to an FBI agent in Rome.[33] His contact at the FBI was the same senior agent with whom he had worked when investigating the FIFA scandal.[15][8]
Steele said he decided to pass his dossier to both British and American intelligence officials after concluding that the material should not just be in the hands of political opponents of Trump, but was a matter of national security for both countries.
In other words.. He considered it very serious stuff. The FBI were already investigating Russian interference before Steele (See George Papadopoulos shooting his drunken mouth off to an Australian diplomat in London).

The important thing is the law allows a party to pay for info (and declared as such)...It doesn't allow info to be offered or received (even in principle) from a foreign government or other entity, and no, not even Norway. Al Gore's staff member in the 2000 election received a video from a Bush insider (Who went to prison) that had the debate rehearsals on it. The staffer was interviewed for four hours after telling the FBI. And then recused himself from the campaign.

I can't imagine a Trump staffer having that integrity.

The naivety of people on the subject of statecraft is shocking: elections have been global for decades. Indeed we influence foreign elections purposely and often overtly to further our aims. It’s a not a blue or red thing. Everyone does it. The USA. And all our allies. And all our foes.

This has been going on for decades ... here, there, and everywhere. This is nothing new. The only differences are technology makes it more invasive and easy.

@DownTheStreet So you're okay with Trump breaking the law? Just to be clear.
DownTheStreet · 51-55, M
No, but I am for the law to actually be enforced - which it is not, rarely has been. @HerKing

Do you think it should be illegal for the USA to influence other countries elections? @HerKing

@DownTheStreet
The naivety of people on the subject of statecraft is shocking
Only that isn't what is being said. I can post the actual statute.

Here's what the FEC chair said the other day:
Weintraub tried to clarify: “Let me make something 100% clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election.”

“This is not a novel concept,” she wrote. “Election intervention from foreign governments has been considered unacceptable since the founding of our nation.”
Is that fairly clear?
HerKing · 61-69, M
@DownTheStreet
No, but I am for the law to actually be enforced - which it is not, rarely has been.
It's seldom needed to be, because until Trump came along, very few candidates of either party openly flouted the regulations.

Sure if the country concerned deems it illegal. But we're talking about the USA now where it is.

Sure sounds like he was in argumentative mode to me. And I’m throwing another flag for the name calling in your comment:
