Understanding that communism and marxism are not the same thing...
Marxism is demonized frankly because people tend not to understand what it actually says. Marxism is not communism, Marxism is a framework for looking at the world, particularly capitalism.
Communism is a conclusion of Marxism - and communism has generally resulted in dictatorships which is kinda defeating the whole point of the idea.
Frankly I still think a form of communism is a good idea because capitalism is coming apart at the seams and we need to see what comes next - but what's been done on a large scale to date has not worked as intended and people need to recognize that.
