I find any nationalism detestable, with that said I don't know what you are referring to but racism is no good.
I thought India has a caste system, that doesn't describe a secular country at all. They use it to discriminate against people in colleges and the like. Most recently a few cases a year ago and also honor killings.
A poet committed suicide for instance because he was consistently discriminated against as an "untouchable" in college, they still make them put it on their applications.

They don't "use" the caste system, casteism is banned in India. The only time one has to provide proof or certificate of their caste is to identify the underprivileged castes, including the "untouchable" or "shudras" and give them reservations or seats in higher education facilities and the government jobs. They are called schedule castes and there's are same provisions for women tribes and other minorities. Honor killings are another case altogether and mostly happen in the really really rural areas.
@Azrael I usually hear it in the news when people commit suicide due to being bullied about their caste and the like. It's obviously still out there since I see it so much. And wasn't suggesting it wasn't a Hindu problem.
