Who else was brought up a Christian, but now questions their spiritual journey?

I think you should believe in whatever you want, but don't use your religion to justify intolerance...

Why is it that the more religious someone purports to be, the more likely they are to interfere negatively in other people's lives?

This administration has really opened my eyes. They prefer condemnation to empathy.

Sure, this has been ongoing for centuries. The Holy Wars. Burning infidels and witches. The list is long and the deaths are many. Whose god wanted this? As with all criminal behavior, follow the money and you will find the god.

From the Inquisition to the GOP, religions are just excuses for people to band together, tell each other they are better than everyone else, and then persecute anyone they don't like. They are only interested in the dogma and control that comes from religion. They're definitely not interested in acting like Jesus, they just want an excuse to act like old testament God.

I never thought I would find the word "Christian" repulsive and dangerous.
But that is where I am now.

The far right hijacked, ate up and spit out Christianity. Christianity is dead, it’s just a hate group now.

At 21, I have checked out of religion. I just believe in being a good person and treating others as I would want to be treated (includes animals). Simple yet so hard for certain others.😔

I was raised as a Christian, fell away from the faith as a young adult and while still having belief in God, it was on the back burner. As I got older, I started coming back to the faith. My faith and belief is stronger now than it was as a child. I don't think it is fair to blame God for things done at the command of men, and I think some things could be justified. Some of the crusades for example, the Muslims were conquering others to expand their faith. I travelled to southern France for work, in walking around Bayonne, I noticed that all of the old bridges has parapets with archer windows and at one time the whole city was walled. In discussing it with a native, he explained that most of the city's old fortifications were put in place to defend against attacking Muslim armies. After the fact, men decided to figure out a way to make money from the crusades and some things they did were just wrong, the same can be said of the witch trials or the inquisition. Jesus said "love your neighbor as yourself." I can love my neighbor but not agree with what he is doing. I have friendly relationships with other Christians, Catholics, even a few Muslims. I don't have to agree with them to treat them as a human being. The mistakes man has made will be answered for in the end. Those who made the mistake will have to atone for them.
